Anyone have thoughts on whether or not this is worth pursuing?

After I post this I'm going to get dressed and head to the verizon outlet to get my spare phone activated, and then to the gym. It will be my first time working out in 3+ weeks, and my first time since the nipples got pierced. Hopefully it won't be too painful...

1997 honda civic must sell by this weeken , needs work,,runs 78kmiles, - $1500

I'm selling a 97 civic automatic. 2doorss ,dxmodel , coupe, salvage tittle , runs good ,clean interior, needs paint , radiator, and windshield,78kmiles, asking $1500 for it ,please serious only no b.s. 415 756-8434,or at 650 583-3222 thanks.

For a 1997, unless it needs some SERIOUS work, that's an amazing price. But the urgency worries me. There's also the fact that finding a garage to check it out on a Sunday would be nigh impossible.

KBB for this car in Fair Condition is $5500. They don't give values for cars of this nature in poor condition. I suspect that given the description, this is in poor and not fair condition, but again, depending on WHAT is wrong with the car, it might be worthwhile.

...

I have certificates that are good for two weeks working out at the Crunch on New Montgomery. They expire tomorrow, but if anyone wants to try to get them from me today or tomorrow and activate them tomorrow, you're welcome to them. I have 3.

But it needs to be charged so I'm leaving it home while I run off to work out.

Foods

My next party will probably have:
-dates or figs wrapped in bacon (mmm, bacon)
-cheddar fondue (but nothing to dip in it that you guys don't provide!)
-chocolate fondue (but nothing to dip in it that you guys don't provide!)
-a cake from Costco unless someone volunteers to bake me a cake or acquire a cake elsewhere
-diet Hansens in Black Cherry and Tangerine Lime flavors
-light butter popcorn
-country time lemonade
-a small supply of soda

General

-licorice and mint are icky.
-spicy is bad unless it's spicy like wasabi... so make it mild.
-meat is tasty
-seafood is okay but no special treat
-sushi is wonderful
-avocado is tasty but guacamole is nasty
-gummi candy is a waste of calories
-cheese is super tasty but I'm very picky
-alcohol should be sweet
-everything should be sweet (well, not everything... but I have quite the sweet tooth)
-I haven't met an ethnic food type I don't like yet... although with some my selections are inauthentic or limited due to my spice wimpyness.
-coconut and avocado obssess me
-I'm on a mango and sticky rice kick, but mangos are out of season! woe is me!

Chocolate

I love chocolate, but I am only interested in high quality chocolate.

Acceptable brands: Ghirardelli, Lindt, Scharffenberger (a favorite), Valhrona, Cote d'Or, Godiva, See's (there are others, but this should give you an idea)

I normally prefer milk chocolate but my tastes have been evolving to include some of the lighter dark chocolates.

Peanuts or peanut butter with chocolate is bad.

Chocolate flavored things

Hot chocolate is very tasty.

Anything with chunks of chocolate is good.

The more chocolate, the better.

Chocolate cake should taste really chocolatey, or it isn't worthwhile.

Oranges don't go with chocolate.

Ice cream

Plain chocolate ice cream is out for the most part, except the Godiva Belgian Dark, and Ghirardellis from their own shop. Chocolate ice cream with chunks of chocolate, brownies, etc. however, are acceptable.

My favorite flavors are Godiva Belgian Dark, and Ben and Jerry's Half Baked. I generally like chocolate chip cookie dough, especially with hot fudge sauce. I'm interested in trying out some of the other Godiva flavors but haven't had the opportunity.

Chocolate milk shakes when sufficiently thick and chocolatey are delicious.

Cookies

The only premade chocolate chip cookies which I have found which are acceptable are the Costco ones.

Cookies baked from cookie dough are acceptable.

Pinwheels (marshmallow coated in chocolate) are great.

Oreos must be double-stuffed.

Candy

Caramel and butterscotch are yummy. Chocolate is yummy. Coconut is yummy. Almonds and other nuts (but not peanuts and hazelnuts, the former because they are icky, the later because I'm allergic to whole unprocessed hazelnuts) are ok and even good. Fruit flavored candy is generally a waste. Some cherry or raspberry flavored chocolate has been deemed appropriate.

Entree's
Some favorite entrees include:
praram long srong (peanut beef over spinach), peanut sauce salad, or anything with a peanut sauce
lamb korma or extremely creamy lamb tikka masala
Kabuli naan (naan with cherries, nuts, and raisins in it)
lemon chicken, when its done right and not like sweet and sour chicken balls
orange chicken, see above
cheese fondue, yum yum yum

beverages
orange juice: with lots of pulp
lemonade: on the tart side
aspartame: diet pepsi, diet coke, and most diet beverages have aspartame in them, and I'm trying to avoid this. C2 is a good compromise, since it is half normal sweetener and half aspartame. Diet Dr. Pepper works better than diet coke and diet pepsi imo. Diet pepsi works better than diet coke, imo.
splenda: diet hansens, koolaid made with splenda, and diet rite are great diet beverages made with splenda, which is slightly healthier than aspartame. I find diet rite a little strange tasting, but try to consume it instead of normal soda when possible.
soda: dr. pepper is my favorite, then coke, when not drinking diet
caffeine: I don't regularly imbibe, so when I do have soda with caffeine I have to be careful
Coffee: smells great, tastes nasty
Tea: only herbal ones which are sweet; there's a wild berry zinger which I enjoy a great deal

Pie
Don't bother making me apple pie unless you are unusually skilled. My father's apple pie knows no equal, and if I really want apple pie, I'll make his recipe myself or visit him in Hamilton.

Other pies are tasty.

-Phone is working
-Workout happened. Working out didn't seem to aggravate the nipples much, even though I did 35 minutes on the elliptical. And it felt good to get back in the saddle!
-Went to check out the SSF car. When they said salvage, they meant it. They also gave off a sketchy vibe... We could have used [livejournal.com profile] unseelie's AAA Plus to tow it to any shop within 100 miles, but with the damage the body had sustained originally, I strongly suspected it was a death trap waiting to happen.

Now I'm home and will hopefully get to work on lesson plans... if I can finish a week's worth of lesson plans, I can spend the week doing the following to-do list (in no particular order, updating entry as I remember 'em):
  • cash in on warranty for broken digital camera
  • cash in on apple plan for laptop battery
  • find out about police auctions for cars in the SF area
  • design a curriculum for my classes as well as a grading breakdown
  • grade homework assignments
  • clean room/unpack from Boston trip
  • vacuum apartment, mop floors, scrub various objects, tidy living room and kitchen
  • catch up on goings on in the tech world
  • catch up on writing stuff
  • go through and deal with all of my mail
  • join costco
  • call doctor and therapist to set up appointments so that I don't run out of antidepressants!
  • go shopping so I can eat healthier food... is the new whole foods open, I wonder?
  • shave, trim my hair, and other cosmetic stuff
  • figure out travel plans for spring break if nothing else

And that's ignoring all the social things I'd like to do!

It's a lot to have on your plate but luckily most of it isn't URGENT. I can imagine getting large portions of it done this week if I work hard... *sigh*

Serendipity of the day:
Was wearing my bi pride shirt and a nice gay man walked up to me and asked me to volunteer for the AIDS Foundation. Turns out though that the shift he was looking to fill overlaps with my work hours, so no go. But we had a nice chat; he was very nice and friendly, and we talked about our careers, politics, volunteering, and then he sold me a chocolate bar as a fundraiser for the AIDS Foundation.

It was nice. :)

OK, now to work. I'll be really happy when I won't be working CONSTANTLY on school related stuff. I expect I'll be able to enjoy teaching far more when I don't have all this extra stuff to do for the job plus other stuff going on in my life to boot. Calmness will happen/come eventually, really...

I wanted something to watch while I worked on lesson plans and was once again confronted with the nightmare stack of movies we have in our living room. See, we have this media rack for movies that we got for free. It fits about 110 movies. Between the three of us, we actually didn't have quite enough space on that rack for our movies.

Then one of the shelves on it collapsed spilling movies all over the place, and then a whole bunch of new movies were acquired. There were movies on the floors, on the couches, on the side table, on the floor behind the couch... it was crazy.

While the shelf has not been fixed (we've tried glue and it collapsed again, so I think it needs a nail or screw for the dowel that keeps on collapsing), I couldn't handle it this time, and I just reorganized them all. Not... by category or anything like that... I just put them all on the shelves and the ones that wouldn't fit on, I arranged in neat rows on the side table and the tv stand.

Satisfying. Very satisfying. Even if I can't quite afford the time right now.
