sillyness stolen from many people:

Oh lookie, Cupid's Postbox is up and running.

EDIT: I just called and left a message saying I accept the apartment. I thought about it and decided that none of the listings were exactly comparable, and the ones which might be better value were more expensive and more importantly, they were what-ifs. Turning down a good definite for a bunch of better or similar what-ifs is dumb.

If you think this is a really bad decision, feel free to leave a comment saying so; it's not set in stone until I sign the lease, after all. Behind the LJ cut, the original post, complete with listings I was looking at.

Moving!

Tomorrow evening I am heading into Toronto to sign the lease and get keys for my new apartment, assuming I don't look at the place and go, "What was I thinking?"

I will probably also remeasure the place when I'm there so I can plan furniture placement, take pictures, and get the height of the ceiling.

If anyone would like to come see the place and/or do a celebratory dinner before I head back to Hamilton, let me know!

Begin edit: My parents are driving into the city with a load of easy-to-pack stuff (boxes that just needed to be taped up and some small furniture, including chairs for my intrepid movers to sit on), picking me up from work, and taking me to sign the lease. Once we've unloaded, we'll probably head back to Hamilton.End edit!

I'll need help moving, of course. Anyone who helps will be treated to beverages, free meals, etc., as is traditional. :)

[Poll #664238]

I'm suffering from a lot of anxiety about this. I've been looking for so long, it's hard to accept anything is actually changing, and that it will work out, and that this is the right decision. In fact, I guess you could say I have a case of buyer's remorse.

Next post, I'll list furniture I have/may need, and also describe the apartment in more detail.

The Furniture List )

I figure with a good contingent of vehicles, this could be done in short order without too much hard work, or too many trips back and forth... and without renting a truck.

I'm not sure about the couches though. On the one hand, they are in relatively good shape, and they are free. On the other hand, I'd really prefer to get something that could sleep guests -- a really soft couch futon, or a couch bed. Anyone have thoughts on this?
