So WorldCon is in Toronto this year, the last weekend in August.
I'm tempted to go see if I can get affordable tickets to Toronto because I could do WorldCon AND visit my parents. But making it a long enough visit to fully enjoy both would be hard. (ok, so enjoy visiting my parents isn't necessarily a valid statement...)
Has anyone on here been to WorldCon? Is it worth the expensive con fee ($205 USD, $275 CAD for the whole weekend, although there are discounted rates for purchasing single days)? What kind of con is it? Is it mostly business-y, or a good party con, or both? If I just went for the duration of the Con, would there be plenty of times when I didn't want to be there that I could schedule time with my parents?
Oh, and dear Boston friends, WorldCon 2004 will be Labor Day weekend in Boston. Be sure that I will fight tooth and nail to be there and see all you fabulous folks while I'm at it (if I haven't convinced you to move here by then). ;p
