delousing

I'm looking for someone who is willing to do a second pass at my hair and scalp looking for lice and eggs/nits.

My expectation is that little if anything will be found, especially after I shampoo beforehand. This will in part be a check to confirm that I am clean, or nearly so.

My preference is someone who can do it saturday or sunday, but if it has to wait till the week, that's fine.

Let me know.

I also will want someone to check me next weekend (and to continue to do so every weekend until nothing can be found).

Hair Dye
dragon_spirit hears rumor that hair dye will kill 'em dead dead dead. My hair refuses to take hair dye and when it does take pigment (without bleach), it fades fast. So I might be dying my hair sometime this week. Has anyone heard anything about this?

Success, maybe

Well. I just sat down with a movie and painstakingly brushed through my hair with a nit comb, after a few days of not having done so. All the previous times I'd done so, I found a few eggs, and a few really small live ones.

I found a lot of dandruff -- my scalp is still somewhat suffering from the whole process -- and I pulled out a lot of hair. But I didn't see a single egg OR live bug.

I did however see one live one on my sock on my foot. I tried to kill it but it fell off my hand onto the multicolored brown carpet. Bloody hell.

So when I had combed my hair thoroughly, I put it up, and vacuumed the carpet AND the couches in the living room. Before I go to sleep I'll vacuum my room again too.

For those who are wondering about the scabbing and dandruff... a common side effect of lice, BEFORE any chemical shampoos are used, is dandruff, scaley skin, scabbing, and even open sores and hair loss in extreme cases. In the case of large open sores, antibiotics are usually prescribed by a doctor -- the antibiotics not only keep the sores from getting infected, but it gets into your blood stream and kills the lice when they bite you.

Luckily, I haven't gotten that bad. I only had dandruff, scaly skin, and a few scabs. And it looks like I'm almost done treating it. Phew.

Anyone have any idea what movie this might be in? I've checked XXX, Daredevil, Spiderman, and it doesn't APPEAR to be on any of those, but it may just not be on the soundtracks you can buy.

I just realized that the weekend my brother is visiting is also the next DHP. Um, cool?

I guess if he's willing to go, it'll give him a chance to get a sense of my social life, and meet my friends. He's a fire spinner and has been known to go to nudist parties, so that's not a concern. It might be a little weird, but moreso, cool, I think. I just hope he wants to go so that we can go together. I don't want to miss it, but spending time with him is more important.

I have a brother. And he's cool. I'm so lucky!
