delousing

I'm looking for someone who is willing to do a second pass at my hair and scalp looking for lice and eggs/nits.

My expectation is that little if anything will be found, especially after I shampoo beforehand. This will in part be a check to confirm that I am clean, or nearly so.

My preference is someone who can do it saturday or sunday, but if it has to wait till the week, that's fine.

Let me know.

I also will want someone to check me next weekend (and to continue to do so every weekend until nothing can be found).

Hair Dye
dragon_spirit hears rumor that hair dye will kill 'em dead dead dead. My hair refuses to take hair dye and when it does take pigment (without bleach), it fades fast. So I might be dying my hair sometime this week. Has anyone heard anything about this?

How have you been dealing with washing bedding, sealing the mattress, and cleaning all other sources of lousy spread? Has dragon_spirit managed to go without any pesky beasties on her person?

I hope that whatever you do flattens the beasties. The itching has to be a total pain in the arse after a while.

Every time I shampoo and do an extra thorough combing, I clean the sheets and all the shirts I've worn.

dragon_spirit hasn't gotten any itching, nor has Q, but their heads haven't been checked yet. I should do that soon.

Q has a mohawk now so he should be clean. They apparently don't like hair dye, so dragon_spirit may be safe too, but better to check just in case.

So far the process seems to be going well. The itching has vastly improved and every time I comb I find fewer, smaller nymphs. I just don't have the time for this right now, what with the writing contract. :(

Are they coming back? Sigh... I figured I'd missed some, inevitably. I can't do it this weekend, but could possibly in two weeks.

Not really... I've found the occasional nymph in combing this week, but just now I did 45 minutes of combing, very carefully, and found none on my head, and one large one on my foot. :)

The first few days after you combed for me, I'd find a bunch of eggs and about two really small ones. Then, no eggs, but a couple really small ones. Now, it seems to mostly be dandruff.

I think another shampoo with Nix this time, and continued self-checks, and I'll probably be clean, but I'd like to get checked by someone who can actually LOOK at the nape of the neck and behind the ears for tell tale signs like nits to confirm that I'm clean.

Sounds like things are coming along. Definitely have roomies and other close friends checked, preferably at the same time you are. Paranoid as I was, I had Akien check me in a cursory way every few days for a few weeks. I'd say you'll probably need at least another couple of combings. Two in a row where you don't find any eggs or nits would be a very good sign.
