I've been inspired recently, towards one short story, and towards one poetic prose piece which may come out as poetry. Be forewarned.

There shall be mangoes and robots, oh yes, there shall.

Scifi geeks: help?

Anyone remember the name of a scifi story in which poor people are forced to live in luxurious surroundings and consume products a certain amount per day? I'd like to reread it.

Also, is that story that was made into a movie with the kids and the holo room and the lions called Savanah?

*drag my ass out of bed
*go work out at the gym on New montgomery at Market
*get a smoothie from Jamba Juice for brunch
*check out Ross' for a bath mat
*stop at the rink
(Manager was on the ice. I picked up the stuff from my locker and left the jacket and locker key with someone. I'll resolve the rest of it over the phone.)
*come home and check email

*recoup the energy to go out again
*grab receipts and stuff and head to blood bath and beyond to return failed items
*come home, relax a little
*figure out which students need a phone call and call them (as [livejournal.com profile] lariel points out, even though most of my students aren't actually orthodox, enough of them observe shabat that I can't call them today until after sunset. I'll call them tomorrow morning/afternoon.
*figure out extra credit assignment for chemistry
*call those students and give it to them (see above)
*do laundry during happy hour moving this to tomorrow
*New: hang out with [livejournal.com profile] mikz

There are other things I need to do but those are the ones I'm doing in order, anyway.

Blah. So busy. There really will be some downtime today, really!

Stomach went boom.

Was it something I ate, or do I recall correctly that there is some kind of stomach flu going around which I may not have quite fought off?

I'm taking a nap. BBB can wait until tomorrow (apparently, if you're got the receipt you can take as long as you want to return it).

If I wanted to get a job in a french speaking country in Europe for one of my future summer vacations, what kind of options are there out there?

Obviously I can write, but getting a part-time job tutoring english or something like that would help a lot I think.

It just seems like living in a french-speaking part of Europe for two months would give me a base of operations to tour Europe while giving me the opportunity to get back my french speaking skills.
