Welcome to Hell
Sep. 3rd, 2003 01:07 pmSo
nytemuse was nice enough to pick us up from the airport, waiting while the plane was delayed at the gate.
We left the airport at 11:30 or so. Most of the way to the Bay Bridge, we saw a sign saying that the bridge was backed up and we should use alternate routes if possible. Of course, at that point using the San Mateo or another would have taken an extra hour at least.
So we head to the Bay Bridge and get into the the traffic jam, and a few hundred yards from the toll booths, the car looses power. We pull over to the left shoulder and we don't even have flashers. Apparently, the alternator is dead.
Luckily
nytemuse renewed her AAA that very day. So we call AAA, and 20 minutes later a tow truck picks us up. We squeeze into the three seater cab and it takes us an HOUR to get from there to Treasure Island. At which point the driver unilaterally decides to turn around, drive us to Emeryville, and drop us and the car at a Denny's because it was the end of his shift.
So we order food from the world's slowest waitress, exhausted (up since 8 a.m. PST). Eventually a tow truck shows up and tows us across the bridge...
We got to sleep at 4:30 a.m.
I'm proud of
unseelie. He got up and went to class at 8 a.m. ANYWAY.
nytemuse's car is fixed and she'll be leaving soon.
I should go to work and work a half day, but as it is I'm still underslept and don't want to. Bad me. Not sure what I'm going to do.
On the positive side, there was an e-mail waiting for me when I got home from the textbook company guy; he has another, smaller project for me. w00t!
