I got a call back on an internship in Palo Alto. I'd be doing online stuff full time for Fawcette Technical Publications for about three months, and getting paid $10-12/hour. Again, this one is walking distance from Caltrain.

Lunch?
The interview is Friday at 11 a.m. Anyone want to do lunch with me before I head back north?

whine...
But I don't WANNA go back to Palo Alto! Grar! I hated that commute... *sigh* But it would be nice to be making money I can actually live on for a while.
If I get this internship and no other offers (say, from Wired), and I think I will learn something I want to learn from it, I'll take it. If I don't think I'll learn anything useful, I'm not sure what I'll decide to do. I'd like to get my career on track but I'd also like to relax for a while and have good finances so I can make some purchases without feeling guilty.

something.

Went to Death Guild last night. It was OK. There was an impressive dirth of people I knew, but I was glad to see [livejournal.com profile] almus and [livejournal.com profile] danaoshee there, who I don't get to see enough of and sat and chatted with. There were a few (like 5) other people there I knew, but none of them except [livejournal.com profile] dragon_spirit took the time to talk to me. I got to dance which was the key thing, but I wasn't in the right mood to enjoy that. I'd get out on the floor, dance for half the song, then be like, "This music keeps on doing the same thing over and over and isn't interesting" and then walk off the floor.

Today I have a huge to-do list I'm trying to get through. Chat with folk about columns I'm doing for The Tech. Send an invoice in for the article I wrote for HEM. Fill out and mail unemployment form. Vaccuum and mop the floors. Clean my room. Get pretty art stuff with which to make signs and possibly a shower curtain. Make a new budget for both myself and boy. Job search. Brainstorm for article ideas. Write up welcome message for Love Without Bounds and send it with a list of people who want to be on the announce list to [livejournal.com profile] digitalsidhe so the list can be created. Re-arrange furniture.

I guess I need to figure out which are the most urgent and start with those. Wee!

Tomorrow I'm thinking of either going to Cherry Bar's 80s night or Bondage a Go-Go. Anyone interested in either? I will probably default to BaGG if no one expresses interest in either.

I've been productive so far. I sent an invoice to HEM, filled out my unemployment (just need to stamp and mail it). I played phone tag with the people for the Tech column. I've drafted both the Welcome Message and the Ground Rules for LWB and now we're just playing with the list settings to get it going...

BTW, if you wanted to be on this poly event announcement list and you haven't emailed me, now would be a good time to do so so that you get added.

I also made and ate lunch and vacuumed the kitchen floor. Now it is simply dirty rather than crumbly and dirty. w00t.

What next for our intrepid hero?

I think I will pop a DVD or loud music into my laptop and clean my room. Then vacuum the rest of the house. Then if I have time I will go to a nifty arts and crafts store and buy sign making materials! And maybe shower curtain making materials too!

I'm thinking of going to the goth social tonight. Maybe get dinner at fat slice and then head over to Hobson's. Anyone going?

On Gaming

I think I've complained in the past here that there are no one-shot larps in the area, only ongoing ones based on gaming systems.

All my friends on the East Coast are having a blast going to Intercon. There are THREE yearly cons on the East Coast for one-shot larps, a weekend of gaming, basically. One in Western Mass, one in NJ and one in MD.

So I went looking on LJ for a gaming community where I could ask if anyone knows of a place where I could go to do one-shots in this area, and discovered that there is no gaming group on LJ. My goodness! Shocking!

Um. I was going to go be useful in my room, wasn't I? huh. Funny that.

Just updated my profile info. It was WAY out of date.

I cleaned my room a little but getting the LWB email list up and running has taken more time and energy than I expected. And I've futzed around quite a bit.

More cleaning!
