On Gaming

I think I've complained in the past here that there are no one-shot larps in the area, only ongoing ones based on gaming systems.

All my friends on the East Coast are having a blast going to Intercon. There are THREE yearly cons on the East Coast for one-shot larps, a weekend of gaming, basically. One in Western Mass, one in NJ and one in MD.

So I went looking on LJ for a gaming community where I could ask if anyone knows of a place where I could go to do one-shots in this area, and discovered that there is no gaming group on LJ. My goodness! Shocking!

Um. I was going to go be useful in my room, wasn't I? huh. Funny that.

Have you tried [livejournal.com profile] larpers or [livejournal.com profile] roleplayers?

You might also check out http://www.chucklingcthulhu.com/ . I've heard good things. You might also want to ask LJ user preciousjade, who, while moving soon, knows a great deal about such things in the area, being a larp GM herself at cons and in PA.

how/where are you doing your search?

http://www.livejournal.com/community/larpers/
http://www.livejournal.com/community/bayarea_larping/

doing a search by interest I got
"larps" 16 Communities

and then
"larp" 94 Communities

hugs

BTW am I seeing you tonight?
Or am I watching a bootleg of
The Twin Towers alone tonight?

*sheepish* I searched for larp, larps, gamer, gaming, and found nothing. I totally missed those two. I searched for users with interest in gaming and also found no useful communities. Wasn't very effective I guess.

Um, yes. Call (or email) me? When do you think you'll be starting the movie?

Actually, I believe there are two a year. This year the New Jersey one is supplanting the Maryland one.

There are some good gaming cons like that in the Bay Area, weekend long one shots. Problem is they tend to be the same weekends as the sci-fi cons, like there was one the same weekend as Baycon, called Kublacon.

A friend of mine runs larps at a lot of them, [livejournal.com profile] britgeekgirl and I can put you in touch with her if you want.

Sorry I called you Eric in the last post. Have no idea why I did that. That said........

MATT!!! Why didn't you make a shameless plug for CAST. ;)

lol.

A) I have shamelessly plugged CAST already in this person's LJ.

B) If you read the post I was replying to, she was asking about one shot LARPS, of which CAST is not.

Dude, a week ago I was trying to help get you into a porn interview.. don't worry, I got your back man, I got your back :)

This may sound strange, but... I was really surprised to see you saying that you missed me. There are some people who I expect to miss me... [livejournal.com profile] arcticelf and [livejournal.com profile] rigel for instance.

But... because of bad experiences in high school and middle school, unless someone expresses that they like me explicitly, I assume they are neutral, indifferent or even dislike me.

That's part of why I was surprised (in a pleasant way). Part of it was also that... I don't know what you might miss about me. Maybe that's... I don't know. I have always felt like a large portion of the social crowd at MIT did not believe me to be a quality, worthwhile person.

You don't have to respond with a list of things you miss, but I am definitely curious. For what its worth, your names is one of the names that my boy recognizes when I'm telling stories about Back East. I do actually remember you often, more often than a lot of people.
Anyway, there it is, or something.
