Well, my GP in Hamilton renewed my scrip for another 30 days... but also sent a note to my pharmacy saying that they no longer renew meds by fax, and next time I will have to come in.

Fucking eh.

I live in TORONTO now, and I have no car. It's a bitch and a half to get to Hamilton during their extremely limited business hours. And this medication has extremely severe withdrawal symptoms.

This is fucking criminally negligent, if you ask me.

Anyway...

The last day for which I have meds is June 29. I will have been home from Newfoundland for three days. Between now and June 29 I either need to get my ass to Hamilton to renew the scrip, or find my way to a walk-in clinic willing to become my pseudo GP until Sherbourne comes through.

Sherbourne Health Centre has me on their waitlist for GP. The waitlist is 6 months to a year, and it is currently frozen because they are short one doctor, and have been unable to find a replacement. They DO have a psychiatrist they use, but only their GP patients get to see hir.

Ugh.

I'm not upset. Just really annoyed/slightly angry. At least she renewed it by fax two whole times. That's SOMETHING.

Use this website to find a new doctor in your area that is accepting patients.

http://www.cpso.on.ca/Doctor_Search/dr_srch_hm.htm

It is the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario search page. Thy are the regulating body for medical practice in the province so ALL doctors must be listed and registered with them.

Take a look anyway.

Actually they'd be negligent if they DIDN'T see you personally, once and awhile for their renewals. However, for most drugs they can specify a certain number of refills in the prescription for your next perscription ask them to do this and if not why.

Good luck on the doctor hunt. The college of physicians has a website where you can get a list of doctors who are taking in new patients. I wouldn't wait on that clinic.

I just had to look for a doctor around December, and found one (actually two, female) at the corner of King/Bathurst. I ended up with the younger one of them, because I like her better.

Dunno if you're looking for someone specific, or just a doctor, but yeah. :-)
