Dear Ms. Hillner,

I am writing to follow up on the internship positions I applied for last
week. In your email when you acknowledged the reception of my resume, you
said that final decisions for interview candidates and hires would be made
by the third week in October.

As it is now Monday of the fourth week in October, I wanted to contact you
and find out what the status of my application is, and make sure there isn't
any information you are missing or which you require for the completion
of my application.

If you would like to contact me, email is the most reliable method. During
the day I can also be reached at (phone number.

Thank you for your time!

Me,
email addres

Call. I seriously suggest you call. While your writing is what they're evaluating, a phonecall is *much* more immediate than an email, and will get you noticed. Be very polite along the lines of "I hope I'm not interrupting anything, but I wanted to follow up my email with a phone call to make sure you've recieved my message".

Don't you think I would have called if I could? I only have a fax number for them, and the craigslist posting explicitly said "no phone calls!"

Aah, ok. That's unfortunate. Good luck anyhow!
