I've just finished Ethical Slut, I'm 2 pages from finishing The Courtesans, and I'm about half done with Pagan Polyamory. It's high time for some fiction, I figure. The question is, what to read?

[Poll #700029]

What type of Fae are you?

Everything on that list aside from 1984 is a book or series that a well-read person can go their entire life without reading, and miss nothing aside from a few hours of amusement.

1984 is serious brain-food... but then I'm a raving Orwell fan. I've even read his love letters to Cyril Connelly!

But then...the request was for 'fiction'. 1984 reads more like 'current events' all the time.

I must respectively disagree with [livejournal.com profile] pyat. The Forever War is on a par with 1984. It's not quite as important as 1984, but it's a lot more accessible and not quite so depressing. It's certainly relevant to the current global political client.

I can mostly agree on reflection. It think it's certainly worth reading and is more than simply entertainment, though I think its anitwar message gets mostly lost in the "Gosh wow, SPACE MARINES!" stuff at first, and then later in the future society speculation.

if you care...

i thought it was strange how i came across this poll... and i figured i would share.

i posted poll #70030, out of curiosity i decided to look at the poll that was posted before mine, yours, it is strange that they were both about books.

and... 1984 is a wonderful book.

Dianne Wynne Jones is light hearted and fun. You need a bit of relaxation and fun in your life right now.

I think reading something fun for the next while will give you perspective and joy. Your inner child will appreciate it. Joy is good. You could go with Eregon as well.
