I've been getting suggestions from [livejournal.com profile] rbowspryte, who is a l33t artiste, on painting the bedroom.

My comforter is a lovely iridescent blue/pink/purple, with a rose underside and a matching purple throw. My dresser is painted a blue selected to match the blue the comforter iridesces, and the front will eventually be covered with a decoupage involving cherry blossoms. My sheets themselves are either a plum, a grey, or a violet.

I've put up a gallery with the three paint options I'm currently looking at with [livejournal.com profile] rbowspryte's input. The little table is the exact colour of my dresser (Mysteria). If you're REALLY bored and want to mess around and make your own sample bedrooms, you can do so by going to www.behr.com, picking "explore color" and then "start color smart."

[Poll #664674]

I am feeling cautiously excited. Hopefully the lease signing tonight will go well and I will love the place as much as I did on Saturday/Sunday.

They're all far too light for my taste so I can't say as to I really *like* any of them. But given the general look you're going for I can't really suggest anything as it is simply not my taste. Also, I tend to have a hard time judging how colors will look from those sample-rooms. I like to take paint chips home though :) (Though even then I have been suprized - I picked the lightest possible blue I could get for the hallway, thinking it would be white with just a hint of blue... but it in fact looks distinctly blue!)

I admit I'm a little dubious about the whole painting one wall thing; that's rbowspryte's influence.

My usual instinct is to choose a nice deep colour and paint the whole room, but people keep on telling me that's a bad idea.

The other thing is that what I really would love is a sky blue that coordinates acceptably with my existing palette (purple, rose, and blue), but I'm scared it will just be too much blue.

That one really is just a matter of taste. In my last place where I did all of my walls deep indigo I would sometimes just sit starting at them with a far-away happy smile because it just felt SO right. Other people probably would have hated it. The main reason I didn't repeat that in my current place is that I didn't get to ask the landlord about permission for painting until I had been there several months and by that point I didn't feel like moving all the furniture.

Light colors for common spaces and dark colors for bedrooms is my preference. But, well, that's me :)
