The data transfer
Nov. 18th, 2005 09:52 pmAlas, I tried to turn the old laptop on long enough to transfer the data on the hard disk to the iPod. No go; the laptop never got any further than the booting screen. So, unless there's a way to do this without turning the laptop on, I'm going to have to wait until I find an Apple Service location that is charging a reasonable price and get it done there/then. Which means Monday. The primary reason I care is that my resume is on there, and there is a job deadline on Sunday. Suck. They do say that they will be accepting resumes after the deadline until the job is filled, so... we'll see. EDIT My mother found a copy of my resume in her mali. The day is saved! Or something. :)
Meanwhile I'm doing my best to configure the new laptop, load it with software, etc. It's a frustrating, slow process, but it must be done.
And, the housing search proceeds; we're picking up steam on that count as well. At least the housing search is exciting rather than demoralizing.
EDIT Saturday I have to roll out of bed at 7ish a.m. to drop off old skates and competition dresses at a Skate Sale on the Mountain. In the unlikely event that everything sold, I would make nearly $1400 after the club's cut of the take. Wish me luck in the sale...

Date: 2005-11-19 07:41 am (UTC)Normally, target disk mode is the way to go when pulling files off an old machine however since your main logic board might not be healthy, this could be risky. Pulling out the drive and using another computer is the way to go if you really need to access the data on the drive.
I hope that you are able to find buyers at the sale!
