Five years ago to this day, I left my ex-husband with the help of the amazing and compassionate bluedaisy to hold my hand. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

It is difficult to believe it has been this long. It is hard to comprehend the chasm between who I was then, where I was then, and who I am now, and where I am now.

Words cannot express how grateful I was in the ensuing months for the many kindnesses people showed me, sometimes even strangers. People I barely knew reached out to me, people I knew well supported me, and I came to realize just how caring and good people can be. I weep that some of that idealism has since been destroyed, but I hope that ultimately, it returns tempered and more realistic.

Thank you, people. Thank you for reaching out to people in need. Thank you for being there for me and others. Thank you for being compassionate and caring. Don't ever stop.

You are someone who was and is worth helping, and deserving of a happy life.
I've been very gratified to watch you work at turning yourself and your life in the directions you want it to be, even when it has not been easy.

Are'nt friends wonderful! There is something special and sacred about friendship and the mopst wonderful thing is each friendship is different.
