So, the more I read about it the more I think that non-exercise activity thermogenesis is the way to go. That is, doing something really low effort, but doing it virtually all the time.

I'm thinking of purchasing a basic pedal exerciser so I can slowly pedal while I work. These are just the pedal portion of the bike, and you can put it on the floor and sit in a normal chair while using it. I already have a resistance band for working out my muscles.

Has anyone tried this, or met anyone who has?

In other news, I invoiced the editor at the newspaper, and he thanked me (!) and let me know that the article is scheduled for this Sunday. Hopefully there won't be loads of edits to be done on it...

I recently purchased a Magneciser and like it very much. I use it for aerobic workouts, but I'm sure you could use it for constant motion...it's very quiet...

Make sure you try it out and make sure it's sized right for you; some people find that the pedal motion of this sort of thing kills their knees, and I've speculated that it has to do with the sizing/positioning.

Nothing worse than getting an excercise device and then finding out you can't use it because it hurts to use.
