knitting geeking: iPod cover
Aug. 21st, 2005 01:03 amWell, I tried to finish my iPod cover today and quickly discovered that I had messed up big time. The screen opening was too big, the scroll wheel opening mishapen, and the button openings were not lined up properly. I had to admit that trying to do something precise like this project with a thick fuzzy fashion yarn was a dumb idea.
So, my second take, I'm using a super thin, non-fuzzy fashion yarn. I'm using the same techniques I learned from the first try, but with a lot more thought. I'm measuring things in knits, and then calculating how many rows of what I'll need to do, how many knit togethers or cast offs, etc. And I'm writing everything I'm doing down so that I can reuse the pattern, and improve upon it.
I guess I'm turning into a real knitting geek!
I promise to share the perfected pattern, and pictures, when I'm done. I'm hoping to create for myself a cohesive iPod carrying system, with several elements which work together to fulfill all of the case needs I might have.
Still not king.
