I am now the proud owner of a wooden dresser covered in ugly paint.

I have plans to strip the paint and repaint it in some interesting and attractive (to me) fashion.

Anyone done this before? Or seen it done particularly nicely? I'd love to see pictures!

I'm still working on [livejournal.com profile] outcastspice's present... it's about 75% done.

When I'm done with that I'm going to work on knitting myself an ipod case. And, all the sewing I'm behind on, I suppose (sewing up holes, buttons, etc.).

I'm also looking at lamps again, but this time I'm doing it by glancing at ebay every once in a while under "art deco lamp." I saw one I loved in Vegas, but it wasn't for sale. *pout*

*grins* i still feel flattered and lucky and surprised and excited about my present. also, one of the only draw-backs of this apartment is that we don't have a couch big enough for guests to sleep on. i'm thinking of getting an air mattress of some sort, although they're never very good.

not to a dresser, though I have a dresser in my bedroom I need to do it to. I've done it to bookcases and microwave carts, though the cart has gone on to another home. I also have a small art deco dresser/drawer type thing that has been painted the world's worst colour (tomato soup), that I found that I want to strip and then I think tile in a mosaic of some sort.

I have a couple of really good books on it, most particularly Furniture Facelifts: A Paint Recipes Book, by Liz Wagstaff, if you want to look, or you can get it from the library. She's done other books in the same fashion.

Quick question:

What, if anything, is important about Hamilton, ON?

A lot of movies are filmed here.

It's known as "steeltown" because at one time it was home to a large number of major steel operations, and has this blue-collar feel left over from that. Now it is evolving in a more technological direction. It is home to McMaster University, where a lot of cutting edge research is done, especially in medical science and biotechnology.

It is the fourth largest city in Ontario and the 9th largest in Canada.

Mwahahahhaha, well I hope you know what you're getting into. It can be a bitch of a job. I'll be happy to have a detailed chat with you about it. Are you planning on using :a chemical, electical, or propane stripper? Also be prepared for lots of sanding. Drop me a line about it if you have time.

I have no idea what I'm getting into. That's half the fun! It's a free dresser, so I can do no wrong. When I am near ready to do this, I'll definitely hit you up for advice, look this up, etc.
