I'm trying to fix damage done by previous bleachings. Thus, any colouring that will require bleaching is OUT. I can go darker, or alter the shade slightly, but I cannot go lighter or exotic.

Date: 2002-09-12 04:12 pm (UTC)If you're going to dye it yourself, use a water-based semipermanent - I think the Clairol Hydrience and woever's Natural Instincts are water-based. These do a good job and have some nice shades, and won't do any further damage. (And you don't get the messy pillowcases like you do with punky semi-perm colors!) If you can find colorless or clear henna, henna does wonders for damaged hair. But don't use henna dye unless you're absolutely certain you want that color for the rest of your life, because henna does NOT strip out of hair, ever.

Date: 2002-09-13 09:42 am (UTC)That being said - I think your natural color is nice. I would stick with it. If you get sick of it you can always dye it. I'm all for dye jobs, I've had a million. But there is nothing like having your *real* hair all soft and silky. If you get bored once its grown out then dye it, but give it a chance.
