Well, shit
May. 2nd, 2005 02:29 pmUm. I just sat down on the corner of my futon bed. And it broke.
Um. Yeah. That's just great.
I know my mother will be pissy at me about it, but it's not like I've done anything to it that should have broken it -- even if it had primarily been being used as a couch, the same thing could have happened. All I did was sit down on it. A bit hard. But nonetheless, I don't jump up and down on it, and I don't have sex on it. It shouldn't be breaking!
Argh. What now?

Date: 2005-05-02 07:41 pm (UTC)We had a problem with our futon last year and a couple of trips to Home Depot and it was not only right as rain, but reinforced for the fact that we and quite a few of our friends fall under the more than plus-size category.

Date: 2005-05-02 07:51 pm (UTC)Spare wood (ha ha), a drill/screwdriver, good long screws (ha ha ha), and carpenters glue can make for a good fix. (just loaded with puns today...)
Bonus points if you can let it cure upside down under load to make it into a pre-stressed structure.
