For me it's mostly an issue of whether it's cooked properly. Badly cooked dark meat is a lot better than badly cooked (read: dry and chewy) white meat. Properly cooked, I like them about equally.

There's a lot of really bad, rubbery chicken in the world. Most of it is breast meat. That's reason enough to avoid the stuff. As far as tasteless protien that you can infuse with flavor goes, I'd rather have tofu.

(Good chicken is another story entirely, but it's a lot harder to come by, and if you're not cooking it yourself, forget it)

I think it's clear that most people prefer white meat - based on the fact, if nothing else, that most chicken restaurants will have no problem giving you an all dark meat half-chicken, but will generally charge extra if you want an all white meat half-chicken.

yeah, at boston market a quarter chicken white costs about a buck more than a quarter chicken dark.

Is it bad that I at first assumed this was a metaphor for something I was too innocent to understand? It really does appear to be about poultry, though.
