Feb 28-March 5: Kitchener-Waterloo?

So, my mother is going to Junior World Figure Skating Championships, which is right next door in Kitchener-Waterloo this year. I said I was going to go with her, but now I'm not so sure. I'm not certain I'd really enjoy a week of figure skating these days.

What I'm wondering is, will I miss anything interesting to do in Hamilton or Toronto if I go? So, anyone know of anything worthwhile on those dates (see subject line)?

And if I go, is there anyone in that area who would want to get together?

A week does not go by in The City without something (or multiple things) interesting and fun happening.

But I don't think that there's anything super special going on.

Kdub is a great town though, lots of fun (from what I remember, it's been many years)

Just replying to your last comment in the Hamilton LJ community.

There are three gaming stores in town, plus a few comic/card places that sometimes carry RPG materials. The two best stores are Bayshore Hobbies AND Bayshore Hobbies. It's a small local chain with a good manager. One store is near King and Dundurn in the west end, and the other (much larger) store is on Concession Street on the Mountain.

Closest to you (I think) is J&F Hobbies, which is in Westdale. It stocks almost entirely D&D stuff, much of it, and the owner can be a little cranky. He's got a great selection of used books, though, and he loves his hobby.

As to gaming groups looking for folks... I do know someone looking for a player for their campaign, but it would not be my place to volunteer that. I'll point him your way.

(I realize that if you have email notification on, you would have seen the LJ link of the guy looking for a player. So.. uh... yeah. :) )

I love skating.. but I have to admit, a whole week at junior worlds... I don't think I could do it... senior worlds... sure... not juniors though.. I know, being a good skating fan, I should be interested in watching the young talent develop.. but I just can't get into it.
