Today I set up a canadian bank account and found a cheap splenda-sweetened soda (as opposed to the $1/bottle kosher sodas my mother found).

I also applied through OUAC to the Ryerson Journalism program (still have to do the supplementary application and get my transcripts sent out, though). Then I nagged my former housemates about getting bills shifted over. 1/3 is definitely fixed (yay! Thanks [livejournal.com profile] dragon_spirit), and the other two are well on their way.

-get a mailed bank statement to establish residency (ING may be mailing one shortly)
-use said statement to cancel US cellphone contract and apply for OHIP (healthcare)
-sell old cellphone
-transfer money from US accounts to Canadian accounts
-close US accounts
-get a Canadian credit card in order to establish credit
-buy the suitcases I saw at the Bentley's in downtown Hamilton to replace missing suitcases
-consider purchasing a new backpack
-deal with the loan which is in deferment -- get the year I taught cancelled, etc.
-get the government and alumni association my new address so that loan bills can get to me
-maybe go to the dmv (or wait until I've had this license for two years?)
-get transcripts mailed to Ryerson
-get business cards

Wee!

Tomorrow I'll probably go wander around the McMaster campus and see if I can find a credit card sign up table which will assume I'm a student. I may also be ready to sign up for a gym -- either the one at McMaster, or the local YWCA.

I gave into chocolate cravings today. Bad Dana! But I felt substantially better after having had the chocolate, which makes me wonder if I was substantially short on calories. I also have started my first knitting project -- a scarf. I'm alternating blocks of stockinette with garter for a stripy, multi-textured feel.

Watched Too Much TV today. Well, by my standards anyway. Both SG1 and Voyager were particularly amusing episodes tonight. w00t.

Now, to bed, where I will read, and then sleep.

Chocolate is GOOD for you

* It contains antioxidants
* It's an appetite suppressant -- if you eat chocolate when you want it, you're less likely to overeat
* If you get the 70%+ kind, sugar is minimal, which makes the dietary impact a lot less bad!
