[livejournal.com profile] dragon_spirit has been there for me through all of the pain I have had here in San Francisco. She is like a sister to me, and she needs your help.

Those of you who know her are already aware of this situation. This post is for those of you who do not.

Imagine having chronic migraines which preclude many job choices and a heart murmur which requires special medical attention. You don't have a degree because life let you down. The only job you have pushed you too hard and you now have RSI in both arms so bad that you can't do any work using your dominant arm. You should be getting workers comp (which isn't enough to live on), but the checks just stopped coming, and the office doesn't answer its phoen or return calls. Your application for disability has been turned down because workers comp is supposedly giving you money (even though it isn't enough to live on), and your appeal won't even be heard for another two weeks. Rent is due in a short number of days, and you don't have ANY money. Your bank account is overdrawn. Homelessness looks to be a reality looming in the future.

That is what my beloved sister, [livejournal.com profile] dragon_spirit, is faced with. I'm asking that you help, by giving her art canvases so that she can keep creating, buying her groceries, or donating to paypal at the link below. If you know of a job that she could actually do with all her disabilities, please let me know. She wants to move to Portland where the living expenses are more reasonable, but has no money to do so.

What does she need to move to Portland? I would be happy to take a long weekend to drive her and as much of her stuff as I can fit in my car up there sometime next year. I've never been to Portland and it's as good an excuse as any. Actually, probably better than most.

I could also store some of the things that can't fit in my car in my garage until someone else could move them.

Here in southern New Mexico/Western Texas living expense is very low, and getting a job is not a problem. Plus it has a good indigent system. In fact, in Texas El Paso they are pushing to have as many people as possible to be in the indigent system.

One of the nice things about working in the disability field is that they're fabulous with the job accommodations for disabilities. I've got some leads on disability rights jobs in the Bay Area, if that would help.
