[livejournal.com profile] dragon_spirit is being checked in overnight; they think she's fine but since there was a complication the first time they're playing it safe.

[livejournal.com profile] mikz just dropped by to pick up some movies, a book and her teddy bear. yay for good friends!

Weird question, how did you change your name without starting up a whole new LJ?

If you go to where you pay for lj stuff (paid accounts, t-shirts, etc.), one of the options is to buy a "rename token" for $15. Once you've bought it, they send you an email with a link to the page you need to use to select your new name, and then their script does it for you. Not only will your journal name change, but when people try to lj-cut to your old username, it'll always register as your new one. In fact, I think OLD references to your OLD username will then display as your new username instead.

The really nice thing is that the script I'm using to put my friends list into e-mail still works using the old name, too, and it still puts the old name in the headers, so my filters handle it properly.
