I want to try to rationalize it as a present to myself for my birthday, or something... I imagine there's $100 in my birthday card from my parents. Or maybe a birthday present + congratulations for finishing a contract I'm going to finish today. But my birthday and that contract don't change my dire financial circumstances...

All - in case you are looking for computer purchases, Dell has an incredible deal right now - $499 for a Celeron based Dimension 3000 minitower with a 15" LCD flat panel monitor (256MB RAM, needs more but not expensive, and a 40GB HDD with CDRW). They also have a $299 Dimension 2400 with same specs, no monitor.

You could ask a friend who has managed to record the whole series on tape if they'd be willing to make you a copy. Far cheaper, although it's on tape rather than DVD (but I'm sure other friends have DL'ed the series and could burn it to DVD, also for far cheaper) and it might have commercials in it. Then buy the official version once you get the cash.

Uh, I already have all five seasons plus the movie collection.

I need to look at my shelves and figure out what stuff of mine is currently loaned out. Do you have stuff of mine still? I should keep better track of these things... :-/
