Plane Tickets
The funeral is Friday. I don't know when my parents are leaving. They may be there for a while sorting out his estate, since he owns a condo and many possessions which must be sold.

I'm looking at plane tickets on Travelocity. Anyone have any suggestions for better places to buy? Tickets leaving tomorrow and getting back Monday are around $300 on United.

New York City
I've never been to NYC as an adult. I'm wondering if anyone I know who would like to tour the city, go to clubs, etc. together might be available. If so, I might extend my stay longer than shorter.
Anyone interested?

A lot of airlines do pretty hefty discounts for this sort of thing- it might be worth it to call them and explain the situation. Not sure travelocity reflects that option.

*hugs* if you want 'em.

I generally like Orbitz better than Travelocity. You could also try calling the airlines directly to see if they have any bereavement fares. They will generally require some proof that you are attending a funeral, though I don't know what that entails exactly.

Try Jet Blue. They're particularly good for flights to NYC.

Except I just looked and it must be too-short notice - the lowest round trip fare is close to $400. Ah well. They do rock in general, though.

I second orbitz or try just yahoo travel. I'd also second the notion about berevement fare. I don't know what they require but it wouldn't hurt checking it out.

Big super giant hugs. I just lost my aunt and feel a bit cheated that I missed the funeral, but I was on my honeymoon so... *shrug*

I'd love to show you around, but I'm busy up in Boston this weekend, chica.
Quick reccomendations: Times Square (maybe even try TKTS and see a broadway matinee for cheap), the Met (you could easily spend the whole weekend there) or the Moma, Washington Square Park, rent a boat on the pond in Central Park, Natural History Museum.
There's also tons of restaurants & stuff, just walk around. Great ethnic food (italian, japanese, etc)
Maybe even try catching a saturday midnight (live) showing of Rocky Horror.
