data transfer - VHS to DVD

I'm wondering if anyone has the equipment to transfer VHS to DVD, or knows anyone who does. I have two tapes of my figure skating and having them in two different formats (and maybe mailing my parents backups in DVD format for extra paranoia) would be good, because its irreplaceable stuff.

I know that there are companies that do that sort of stuff, but if I can do this on the cheap, all the better.

buzz me by phone or direct mail on monday or tuesday. i expect to see two on saturday who would either have the tools or know someone who does... but will be completely frazzled this weekend and Will Not Remember.
