So I haven't been able to sync my palmphone since I got the new computer.
Today I was told at the apple store that palm desktop 4.0 or 4.1 should work fine.
So I downloaded it, plugged my handheld in, and patiently waited.
They don't seem to even see each other. I don't know if it's that my usb connector is fried, my cradle is fried, or I'm missing some kind of software doodad. But it I AM getting somewhat frustrated...
Anyone have any words of wisdom/suggestions?

Date: 2004-04-02 05:39 am (UTC)I've always had trouble with my Palms syncing, on both Win98 and OS X, with the Vx and m515. They'll work one time, and fail to reckognise one another the next. I think it's just a Palm issue.
BTW, I've been less and less wild about the Mac version of Palm Desktop as time progresses. Apart from the lack of consistency with the Palm OS's methodologies, 4.1 has a tendency to give me the spinning wheel of doom for several minutes when I start it. I've been considering buying Missing Sync (http://www.palmgear.com/?xyz=51197) to use instead.

Date: 2004-04-02 09:38 am (UTC)Try plugging the phone in and loading the system profiler. I'm not sure if this that will normally detect devices, but it might.
If it does detect the phone, then the Palm Desktop is probably the problem. If it doesn't, then see if you can get the connector to work either work on someone else's computer or on yours with someone elses device.
(Also, did you ever get rid of the old iBook? I've determined I need to get an airport card, so if you have an extra that works I'd buy it off you for $50 or so)
