Um, in case it wasn't obvious... I never was planning to cut off my hair.

I've CONSIDERED it as a transition thing. I even know someone with comparably long hair who did it for the reasons I gave [livejournal.com profile] plymouth.

And I have mentioned a few times that if I ever DO chop it all off, I will make a human hair flogger out of it. And that's true.

But I'm not planning to do so just yet.

:)

Amazingly, I think I fooled a good number of people with this one, but maybe I'm just imagining it.

I was fooled!

But I'm probably out of the loop :)

Got me on it. I just saw, thought, "oh, that's nifty," and moved on. I briefly considered it'd be more fun to "muss" your hair with a buzz cut.

I actually DID cut my hair twice as a purging of the past. The first time, I cut half of it off with the help of a friend. Then the same friend made a major betrayal (which she later apologised for) a couple weeks later, and it was a few months after that when I went bald. Was very, very cathartic.

Me too. Pretty much the same reaction. Mine did include a musing about remembering you being the one I heard last night ask the universe at large "what's up with all the boys cutting off their pretty long hair?" or something like that. Then I figured I must have misremembered and it was someone else.

I can only dream of pretty, long hair... I have exactly the sort of hair that should never be allowed to get long. Thin, straight, and no body. I keep mine short, for looks and also to avoid looking like I'm in denial about my impending baldness.

what does long hair have to do with denial of baldness? it's only denial if you comb it over...

Which I don't... my friends have standing orders to shave my head if it ever starts looking like a comb over.

I was referring to the receding hairline with long ponytail look. I've always considered that to also fall into the 'denial' category.

that line of reasoning has always mystified me. it's like saying I'm denying my hedges are dying by continuing to faithfully water my lawn, when I'm actually just trying to preserve what greenery I still DO have.

Hey, I don't think I know you well enough yet to have this count as being "fooled." I mean, *I* wouldn't do such a thing, but I do know friends who've cut similarly long hair, so who knows??

I got the impression you were planning on doing it, and considered saying that I like your long hair and would miss it if it were gone, but decided, you know, it's your business and if you feel like it's a good way to psychologically "move on", I can understand that...

I initially figured "April Fools," but seeing your first comment to someone which elaborated on why made me think, "Maybe she does mean it!"
