got up, got dressed and frantically assembled what I needed.

Dropped by the old pub long enough to drop off an item they needed which I had.

Grabbed Jamba Juice for lunch, hopped the bus and got to school just on time. Teaching went well, as it has been lately. The marshmallow and raisinette molecular models didn't work as well as I would have hoped, but next time I think I'll explain it better and it will work out better.

I was kind of ticked off, though, that the kids made such a mess. Give them the privilege of candy in class once and there's raisinettes all over the floor and chewed marshmallow on one of the seats. ugh.

Anyway, went to the gym, did a great work out. 420 calories burned during cardio alone, good hard work on lower body and abs, and a good long stretch afterwards. Then I met [livejournal.com profile] joedecker in the Mission and he kept me company while I ate a burrito, and then we went to an nifty Erotic Art show at City Arts.

It was awesome! It was a fundraiser for Carol Queen's Center for Sex and Culture. There were shows by Snatchy the clown, the Diamond daggers, Ruby Pearl, readings by two writers, and a fabulous story from Carol about her experiences at the Lusty Lady.

There was also a raffle to win your choice of a limited selection of artworks, and then an art auction. I participated in the auction -- my first real live auction -- and won a gorgeous art piece for only $35 (original price, $120). It was by Randy James, and it is a nifty depiction of a nipple being tongued in blue, purple and pink hues with a fuzzy comforter underneath. Truly, that description doesn't do it justice... it has been photoshoped so there are four nipples, four tongues, two mouth tops, and two mouth bottoms. Anyway, none of the stuff on the website is really quite like this one... But of the categories in his gallery, it is most like the first and second, but not really THAT much like either.

Anyway, it wasn't framed, so Carol Queen is going to call me and arrange to drop the frame off at the Moonbase when she gets a chance. *giggle*

There was another piece of art I just adored... a man being toyed with by a female fairy, a painting. But it was nearly $500 and not being auctioned or raffled, so no chance. :(

Joe took me home, tried out my split ender, and was sold on the idea. We chatted very briefly and then I sent him on his way. Now I will probably go to sleep. My body is tired, and achey. I worked it hard today and yesterday, and stood a lot today to boot. It needs a rest; I don't think I'll be working out tomorrow.

On the disappointing side, I was enjoying a used bookstore on Valencia, The Forbidden Planet, while I was waiting for Joe to rendezvous with me. The store had two gorgeous cats and beautiful selection of books including some really old classics. I was eyeing some Umberto Eco and Alexander Dumas, particularly.

But I bought a recent fantasy book from my wish list and while I did so, the owner chatted me up about how the war on Iraq is part of a conspiracy on the Administration's part to lay down all of Israel's foes. Um. So yeah, I'm not sure how comfortable I am with going back there.

Maybe more comfortable than with the bookstore on Haight where the owner was loudly proclaiming her belief in Jesus as the one true way on the phone with a friend, and explaining how when a man lost his children in a fire, it was because their stepmother/his wife was pagan. Ick. Definitely a boycott there.

I have no plans for this weekend. Stuff I want to get done, but I think there will be lots of sleep and lounging around and getting ME stuff done. Maybe take care of myself in some special ways, like grooming, and stuff. Social opportunities are welcome, nonetheless.

Now I fall down go boom. Tired.

hey

Was that the little used book shop on Haight? No wonder that lady refused to take my books on Paganism and gave me shitty prices for everything else!
