So I may have discounted piercing available to me this weekend.

I'm contemplating getting one or both nipples pierced, probably with titanium because it is cheaper than gold.

I'm debating:

(1) Whether I should do it
(2) Rings vs. barbells to begin with

Any opinions or advice?

I love my hoops, and my piercings absolutely refused to heal until I put titanium in.

If you do it, get pierced at 12 guage, it seems to work better for female nipples. Get aftercare stuff before hand (anti-bacterial soap, sea salt, etc) because you may go into shock at first. Eat before you get it done.

Because you're large breasted, you'll want to wear a bra as much as possible until they've healed. The bra helps hold them in place so they're less likely to migrate and/or reject. Be prepared to sleep with a shirt on until they've healed, sheets dragging across healing nipple piercings is not fun. Oh, and no playing with them until they are completely healed.

Christmas ornaments. I knew this girl in high school, that... never mind.

If you should? Up to you. I plan on getting mine done again at some point. Definitely get both, though. If you get one and like it, you'll regret not getting both done at the same time. Concurent healing is good.

Definitely hoops. Barbels introduce different kinds of problems that can be annoying. The only thing to watch out for is bras that will catch on the hoop (though I think this would be more of a risk with the bar). From what I've heard, sports bras are a good idea.

if you should is up to you. If you get them done I recommend barbells, I think they look sexier.

Get barbells, other wise you might have issues with you bras. Get 14 gauge I will take less time to heal. They should heal in 3-4 months. Mine heal in two months. I have some problem with my left nipple but my right nipple is healed, and that is because of too much play. There are two thing you need to get Tupperware and pannier liners. One thing you will need to do is soak your piercing in salt water. If you get the small Tupperware it fits nicely in your bra. Line you bras with pannier liners for the first few week. You will bleed a lot, and it will get every ware.

I know somebody who had rings in both. Now she only has one ring, because of the really unpleasant problem that you can imagine happening with a hoop.

So I'd vote barbell. :-P

Don't know if this is an issue or not, but if you ever want to have children... the piercings will cause issues with breastfeeding. However, you can always use bottles. Or just not have kids. :o)

I have hoops and have had them since I was 15 years old. I LOVE THEM. I think barbells look pretty cool too, but I think hoops are more fun to play with. It has been a very long time since I have had anything done to them (had them stretched 6 years ago when I was 18) but I have never had any problems whatsoever. I have surgical steel hoops. And of course you can always start with one kind of jewelry and switch to another once the piercing is fully healed.

As far as problems with breastfeeding, (if you ever choose to have children) it is, as far as I have heard, a myth that nipple piercings adversly effect breastfeeding. I have done extensive research on this in the past and have found no articles or evidence that having pierced nipples will effect feeding your child in any way. I also know women with nipple rings who have had no problems feeding their babies.
