Well, the propositions all seem pretty clear and I know what I'm voting on them. But for Mayor I'm kind of torn.

Tom Ammiano and Matt Gonzalez both sound really wonderful. I suspect I would like Matt Gonzalez better, but I'm not sure. Hopefully ONE of those two will end up in the run off. Any reasons why I should vote for one or the other?

Terence Hallinan seems like a good choice for DA, and I can't find any useful info on the Sheriff candidates.

lunch time. SO HUNGRY!

a bit late, but...

Were I a city voter, I actually would've voted for Newsom. I know, I know, everyone complains about him being "business-friendly". But given that the city's legislative body is very left-leaning, and none of the candidates are exactly hardcore conservative types, I actually think having somebody a touch to my right in the executive position there wouldn't be a bad idea. Plus, in spite of criticism from the left, I think the care-not-cash concept makes a great deal of sense. A lot of homeless people have mental problems, addictions, or just aren't capable of protecting themselves and hence get robbed if they have to carry around cash, or even vouchers of many types. Rerouting that money directly into actual services is a good idea. (I'd also like to see some reinvestment in a publicly subsidized mental health system, to make sure that people who aren't sane enough to find their way to the services are helped as well, but that doesn't appear to be even on the table for discussion yet...)
