I am taking BAMM aka Impact. In this course, they train us to hit with FULL FORCE. If you approach me in a way similar to the ways they train us to react to, there is a possibility I will hit you. With full force. Breaking your foot, nose, et. al.
So please do not grab me from behind, in a bear hug, by the hair, by the wrist, by the shoulder. I don't want to be responsible for kneeing you in the groin full force (for instance).
---
The class is going well, but because they started so late last week, we had to stay an extra hour this week. And next week is a special class that goes two extra hours. I'm SO TIRED. I'm fighting off a cold again, but that + a 6 hour class has left me exhausted. I'm probably going to go to sleep sometime in the next half hour.

Date: 2003-11-03 03:29 pm (UTC)I find myself feeling sorry for whoever has to uke for you in
class. "Katate tori [eng: "wrist grab"] huevos kicky" isn't a
technique I've ever had to take the 'fall' for...
Z
P.S.: Is this an "early stage of the class" situation? Do they teach
you later on to judge *when* to use full-force?

Date: 2003-11-03 03:44 pm (UTC)The most important thing is that people not try to test me. Apparently some idiot boyfriend tried to do this to his girlfriend, hid in the bushes outside her house and jumped her, and wound up in the hospital.
Odds are that if someone DOES bear hug me from behind, grab my hair, etc., that I will catch myself before I seriously harm them. But just in case, I thought I'd warn people. Besides, I don't like it when people grab my hair or my shoulder, among other things.
