I was walking home from brainwash after grabbing dinner to go, and this woman is running along the sidewalk yelling at her male partner, who is chasing her. She's saying things like I hate you and stuff like that, and he is responding in kind. As she runs by, she hit me really hard over the head and yelled "Bitch!"

?!???

Never seen them in my life. My neck hurts a little and I'm a teeny bit in shock, because I was walking and reading and didn't even remotely see it coming.

That was so fucked up...

Oh, and my email is temporarily down. Right now the best way to contact me is via phone or by commenting in my lj.

WTF? I think I had to read that 3 times to get what happened. Too bad you didn't get a decent description or there wasn't a cop nearby. Could've brought the psycho up on assault (or would it be battery) charges.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not lawyer-happy, but when someone's being that much of a bitch, they deserve to get an arse-whupping.

Yeah. I feel really angry, and am having psychosomatic nausea. I don't believe that I could possibly have a concussion -- she didn't hit me THAT hard -- but nonetheless, slightly nauseous.

Getting a description would have meant lingering long enough that either of them could have assaulted me again. I have no methods for self-defense, so... not the plan. Alas.

thanks. I'm not going to s&p tonight, actually. I was going to clean my room instead, but right now I think I'll go watch something on my nice new tv and then maybe if I feel like it clean. Part of me feels it is weak to let something like that random event prevent me from cleaning the room, but the rest of me is painfully aware of the headache and my slightly shaky ... whatever.

I just spent WEEKS on it. Both criminally and civilly this is battery. It is also assault IF YOU APPREHENDED at any point immediately before she hit you that you were about to be offensively touched. Not feared the touching but saw it coming if only a microsecond before impact. FILE A POLICE REPORT ANYWAYS. There is a fund for compensation of victims of violent crime HEY THAT'S YOU, and I think it gets its funding based on number of people who report crimes, and also hey, you never know, perhaps they arrested her later for something else. It also feels good to go to the police, they will monitor the area more based on the number of crimes reported there. Perhaps the police will come to you? Call and ask. They may also have info on the self defense class you are thinking of. It's a reach but you CAN apply for compensation for loss of any wages you suffer as a victim of violent crime.
I couldn't believe it, but a woman who had driven her car into my steps (and then got LIVID mad when I called the number on the side of the delivery van she was driving and reported it to her boss) came into MY HOUSE to attack me. Poor thing. She was not used to it and I resisted the chance to throw her off the 15 foot balcony onto the cement below, I just pushed her out the door and down a few stairs and told her if she came back I'd beat her up. When I reported it to the police they arrested her and offered to(among other things) PAY FOR COUNSELING for me for the TRAUMA I suffered. HA HA. I didn't take them up on it. They were VERY sympathetic even thought it was a minor assault and battery. Perhaps she hit 15 other people after that and she was arrested. Perhaps someone did run after her and beat the living SHIT out of her... perhaps that innocent needs your report to justify their actions.... Wouldn't you love to find out that she was a very rich person and SUE HER ASS? You'd need a report for that.

Were it me, the scenario would likely have been: shock, anger, run after and beat her senseless, get beaten by her boy. So it's good that it wasn't me. That is amazingly fucked up, I've never even heard of anything like that before. . .

The irony is that on my way home today I was thinking that I should sign up for some of the BAMM classes (they teach self-defense against mugging and other random street violence). Was this Goddess' way of telling me that I should really go ahead and do that?

Yea, I want to do the equivalent class out here, but it costs $500, which is rather outside my budget right now. I'm better off paying the minmal cash it costs as an alumni to go to the Brandeis gym and participate in Aikido classes. I'd try to beat them up anyway, I've learned a few principles of causing injury over the years and I have a traditional male mentality towards fighting ("I could beat someone up if I tried" sort of thing).
