The good stuff (yes, there is good stuff)
Apr. 5th, 2002 12:56 amLast night was actually a lot of fun. My second trip to ManRay was much more enjoyable, except for the fact that they almost didn't let me in because they'd never seen an Ontario Driver's License before. Will I have to bring my passport with me next time? *grumble*
Dinner was great and not TOO expensive. Company was even better. ;)
arcticelf looked positively frightening in his face paint, though the vinyl dress and outfit was very cute. I guess... I just adore his face. It's so beautiful. I didn't like seeing it covered up. But I think that was the effect he was going for, so...
jadasc was adorable and so much fun to flirt with... and hug... and kiss. *bounce*
And I should tool. bad questioner.

Date: 2002-04-05 10:10 am (UTC)There's a quirk in MA law where establishments that sell liquor in MA don't have to recognize anything but a MA license as valid proof of age. Technically this includes a passport but as a practical matter non-driving friends have never had trouble getting a US passport accepted. Dunno about a Canadian one.
On its face, this would seem to violate the "Full faith and credit" clause of the US Constitution, at least as far as licenses issued by a US state. Never mind the major inconvenience to people like college students and vacationers who spend a fair bit of time in the state.
This was at the request of package store owners and barkeepers because of the variety of state and provincial IDs out there. They complained that they really wouldn't know what a license from some random non-neighboring state is supposed to look like. (Never mind that there are ENTIRE FREAKING BOOKS full of nothing but pictures of all sorts of licenses and IDs, with circles and arrows explaining all the security features on 'em.)
Fortunately even out of state peeps can go to the MA RMV and get what's known as a "Mass. Liquor ID" that will serve to identify you for the purposes of getting into bars and buying alcoholic BEvERages. The bars are required by law to accept it.
