So, in the aftermath of [livejournal.com profile] unseelie's little accident last night, his front fender is bent inward such that it pokes at one of his wheels whenever the wheel is turned. He doesn't feel safe driving like that in the long term, so he needs an auto body shop.

Anyone know
(1) How much fixing that should cost?
(2) A reliable auto body shop in SF?

I have a try-out with that guy tonight at the Metronome Ballroom. Woowee. Wish me luck! Still really self-conscious about my weight, but whatever. I'm working on it (and failing, but still working on it) and... yeah.

Things are going great at work, which is nice. And I caught up on some more Farscape last night. And [livejournal.com profile] arcticelf will be landing at SFO in...35 hours, almost exactly. Eep! I'm terribly excited, but also nervous. We haven't seen each other in over a year now and... well, I've changed a lot and so has he, I would imagine.

I did that to an old car of mine. I resorted to hacksawing the little corner of the fender that was rubbing the tire off. I don't know how badly Unseelie wants to drive, but that fender is toast and will have to be replaced anyway if you want the car to look nice. Might as well make it drivable for now.

There's an idea. He bent it out of the way by hand so he could drive to and from work, but was talking about getting it fixed properly tomorrow. I'll suggest sawing off its corner as an alternative solution.

I'd suggest avoiding any sort of sawing on your car, as that would mean to fix it fully would require replacing the bumper. Most likely all that is required to repair it is a little banging with a rubber hammer (which is actually what a good portion of auto body repair work entails) and some paint. Depending on whats actually damaged, he can probaby use a mallet to get it back into functional shape...

Good luck!

And break a leg! (Afterwards of course)

Well, that repair shop I went to was also an auto body shop, so he could try that. Plus, he gets a discount if he remembers his AAA card. I know nothing about body work...repair work, what usually kills the wallet is the $80/hour labor charge.
