Yay! Taxes!

Yay!

So I finally got my missing W2s from MIT... well, a fax of them, anyway...

Which means I finally have essentially all the information I need to do my taxes. Except maybe the Salomon Bros. stuff, but I'm not going to fret over that given the mess its in.

Now I need to find somewhere that will do my taxes and can handle complicated stuff like 3 sources of income, self-employment income, and a small prize I won at ESG.

Anyone have any recommendations? H&R Block seem the obvious people to go to...

I haven't dealt with H&R myself, but I've several friends that have with very poor results. According to their experiences, the people that work at H&R tend to not have personal knowledge about tax issues, but simply plug numbers into H&R's programs.

You might be able to get a good recommendation from your broker for someone to work with.

Oh, you mentioned Salomon Bros stuff, and I interpreted that as Salomon Smith Barney.

A broker is simply someone that arranges the purchase and sale of stuff, most typically investment stuff like stocks.

My taxes the last couple of years have been somewhat complicated, and I've had good luck using TaxCut to file myself. Have you tried something of that nature?

i've used turbotax the last three years, and have had self-employment, multiple jobs, multiple states to file income taxes in, etc... *shrug*
