Other than City College, what community colleges are in the area, and are some particularly better than others?

I know that UCSC, UC Davis, and UCBerkeley are in the area. What else is there? Specifically, what institions are there that someone could get into with a 2 year AA from one of the above programs without too much difficulty? With some difficulty?

Ultimate goal is the ability to practice psychology/be a therapist.

Thanks for any help rendered!!

I belive that DVC in Pleasant Hill is rated number two in the state next to SMC in Los Angeles for junior colleges.

I know for *SURE* it's the best JC in the area.

I guess I'm misunderstanding what your asking. It looks like at the top you want CC's but at the bottom you say you have your AA.

Everything I know about is in the South Bay. But there are two community colleges in San Jose (San Jose City College and Evergreen Valley College), plus De Anza College in Cupertino; I'd be surprised if there weren't a liberal sprinkling of community colleges along the peninsula. You also may be interested in the CSU system; San Jose State and San Francisco State University both exist, and they're probably a little easier to get into than the UC's.

I dunno if they're easier or the same...I was able to get into both CSUs and UCs. The only issue I'm currently aware of that while yes, the CSUs are EZ to get into, a LOT of departments are really being cutback b/c of budget issues, and a lot of ex-dotcommers have gone back to school for advanced degrees or what-have-you.

In general, the UCs have a much better reputation nationwide. That doesn't necessarily mean that some of the CSU campuses aren't better than some of the UC campuses, but... *shrug* Reputation makes a difference sometimes.

do you want to get an AA or do you already have an AA?

if you wanna get an AA there is the Perelta Community college district (east bay) with campuses in Berkeley, Oakland (laney/lake merrit), alameda (coll. of alameda). Each branch as the core GE classes as well as a special only to that branch (ie coll of alameda has dentist assisting and aero mechanic)

you can't go beyond an AA in community college. to get an BA/ma you'll need to move up to university. There is SF state, Hayward, those stop at MA/MS, to get higher you'll need to go to Berkeley.

Davis is a decent bit away. Prolly at least two hours, I think, from SF. There is a nice train that goes up there, but it's still a trek.

I would go with City College it's close. I have worked with a few people that were able to transfer to Berkeley after getting their AA at City College.
