In other news, today is apparently a half day at Wired, but if I want to stay and work the whole day I can. What does THAT mean?
This place is weird. Its this strange cross between the geek and business world. But very friendly nice people. We have subsidized breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is $2, and includes fresh fruit salad, bagels, cereal and milk, and sometimes bacon, and sometimes some other dish type thing. Lunch is $4; my first day it consisted of avocado blts, blts, or alts for veggies; bean salad; romaine hearts with ranch or vinaigrette dressing; cherries and brownies. My second day it was beef hot dogs, mixed greens, cole slaw, lemonade, and strawberry shortcake.
My job seems to consist of a strange mixture of projects, ongoing duties, and in-house freelancing. That is, I currently have about 1 hour of duties per day and spend the other 7 searching for story ideas. Eventually I will have projects which take up much more time. The previous intern however claims they will be sparse and I'll mostly be searching for story ideas. Which means my time is COMPETELY unstructured. Something.
I suspect I will definitely learn something from this!
