Day trip suggestions?
Can anyone on here recommend somewhere to go for a nifty day trip this weekend within reasonable driving distance of SF?

Water Park, anyone?
Also, would anyone be interested in joining me and a number of other freaks of varying stripe on a trip to the waterpark near San Jose either this or some other weekend? I have coupons... ;)

Wow, my next major 'event' thing isn't until Labor Day weekend. *collapses in a pile of goo* I like living a fast-paced life, but a break every now and then is such a good call...

Potential virus
I just got an e-mail from info@buzzle.com, subject line Re:Application. The e-mail says "Please see the attached zip file for details," followed by a 108 kb zip file entitled your_details.zi.

Is this a virus? It sure looks like it...

That'd be the SoBig.E virus.

Yeah. The .zi (not .zip) extension is a dead giveaway -- some detail-that-I-don't-recall about how Sobig.E sends mail means the filename sometimes (but not always) loses its last character.

Of course, since you ([livejournal.com profile] questioner) have a Mac, you might as well click it as not. It won't execute, either way. Despite claiming to be a zip file, it's actually a Windows/x86 binary executable. I expect the Mac won't even pretend to try to run it without a valid resource fork.

we took a mini vacation last year to montery spent day one at the aquarium and then that evening the cannary row has live music as well as stand up comedy. the next day we went to carmel and went and checked out the old mission. other then that I hated carmel.

there is always great america, the boardwalk in santa cruz, the winchester mystry house, napa wine tasting.

SF itself has the exploratorium, twin peaks, china town, the zoo.

Great Day Trip.

Muir Woods. I feel like I may have mentioned it to you before, (and you may have said you've been there, in which case feel free to ignore/hit me). But Its uber cool. Beautiful nature reserve, incredible red wood trees, with easy to walk paths *I did it in a wheelchair* and its all within 20 minutes drive of the city.

Good rule when dealing with computers: never open an attachment if you didn't ask for it or don't recognize the from address. If you're not sure if you know them, eMail them before opening it :)
Also, it's generally good to check Symantec or other anti-virus sites to see what the latest bug is being passed around before opening anything.
