Apparently I slept funny last night. I have a crick in the neck that won't let me straighten my head. Crying shame because I also slept really WELL last night, which was a nice change. I really don't like walking around with my head leaning slightly to the left... Anyone know how to get rid of this kind of crick?

In the meantime, I'm sure you've all heard about the Sodomy laws being repealed (sorta) by the Supreme Court. Ruled against, anyway. Yay! *bounce*
I predict a particularly exciting Pride.

Today assuming the heat doesn't 'get me', I'm going to try to get three chapters done and stop by Cliff's Variety in the Castro. Wish me luck!

Current temperature in my room is 80 degrees F. Weee.

The neck thing:
water; very slow stretches that take a while to get into and longer to get out of; a hot shower; vitamins C, E, and calcium; be conscious of how you move (no sudden movements, esp after being still for a while).
Stand (or sit) straight, and roll your shoulders up and back. Then imagine you have heavy weights in your hands, pulling your shoulders down, and a string attached to your head, pulling it up. Stretch slowly, with each breath. Release very very slowly (this is important), relaxing the shoulders and neck gradually.
This should help.

These stretches definitely seem to be helping. I can now make my head straight with tolerable amounts of pain, but I have to watch how I move around. And it still tends towards leaning towards the left.
I will have to take a hot shower and let the water work its magic, or something.

Thank you! You rock!

What I'd really like is a cool tub to dunk my feet in while I sit and work... The frustrating thing with laptops is the way they get really hot to the touch... sometimes keeping it on my lap just doesn't work because it would burn me, or come close anyway.

Beach means sunblock and sand getting everywhere and... it just doesn't seem worth the trouble. Now a nice shady forest glade... that sounds like my speed.

so we add
"fan"
and
"basin to fill with cool water for M~ to soak her feet in while sitting in front of the fan, with the lap top on a book or something - maybe a dinner tray while she works"

to the shopping list

and maybe
"dinner tray/an/or/tabley thing."

mmm. now you're talkin'!

On the positive side, I finished a chapter already today. Go me, or something. Two more to reach my goal. Of course, we're supposed to have record breaking highs today... ick. I wonder if the GGPET Munch location has a/c...

[livejournal.com profile] nytemuse has a "bed desk" thing that works really well for keeping the laptop off your actual lap...

I used to have to go to a chiropractor cause I threw my neck out headbanging. ;) My advice is when you are doing your stretches, let the weight of your head help you. Don't pull your head down to each shoulder, let it fall (but slowly) to each shoulder.
