Poly queer geek girls seek roommate
Sep. 5th, 2007 12:18 amOur wonderful housemate is moving in with her mother, so we need to find a new housemate!
Timing
You could move in at any time after September 22. Our priority is getting someone who is a good match for our household; timing matters less.
Cost
$406 (includes water and cable) + hydro
$17 for internet (we have a WiFi/Ethernet router you can hook up to); this price may go down if we switch to a different provider
You:
-are sex positive
-are open-minded and non-judgemental
-are one or more of: poly, lbgtq, kinky, geeky, goth, pagan
(To clarify, geeks LARP or play tabletop roleplaying games with dice, or attend science fiction and fantasy conventions, or are involved in a scientific or technological profession. It's a thriving subculture.)
-are of any age! We are not ageist, and socialize with and date people much older than we are
The building and apartment:
Our apartment is in a housing co-op just south of Ryerson campus. It's a two-bedroom plus enclosed sunroom, which is the room we're looking to rent out. There is a shared storage room in the unit, as well as a fairly decent kitchen (only lacking a dishwasher), bathroom, and living/dining room. The building has parking if you have a car (for $60/month I think), in-house laundry facilities (energy-efficient machines at $1/wash and $1/dry), a kids' playroom, rooftop gardens, building lounge space, and awesome office people. The room is currently painted, but you could change that if you didn't like the colour. Because of the proximity to the Village, there is a high percentage of queer members.

danaeris: I am a bisexual poly pagan kinky gamer geek. I'm a journalist/writer/editor, and I'm currently working on a Masters in Journalism. I also try to contribute to the community by organizing poly events and speaking about sexuality at conferences. I like to have friends over for dinner, to hang out, or to watch movies. I don't like loud parties because my goal is to talk to people, and I can't hear them if it's loud. I don't have sex with or date housemates. I eat meat, but you don't have to.
darkestembrace: I am a bi poly kinky gamer. I'm a student in Teacher's College, but I also work a couple jobs coaching skating and doing web design/data entry. I volunteer a fair bit, mostly in the fields of sexual education and youth sports. Although I like to be social with friends at home or elsewhere, I'm also a fair bit of a bookworm and an internet addict. Like Danae, I don't get involved with housemates, and I eat meat, but am okay around people who don't.
The household:
We're looking for more than just someone to pay rent; we would prefer to do dinner together at least once a week and to actually share some common interests. Currently, we have a clothing-optional household, with negotiated limits in place. Neither of us smoke, but we don't mind if you do so long as it's kept outside of the apartment. There is occasional drug use (primarily pot) by us or our friends, but not in the apartment. Neither of us does "hard" drugs, and would not be willing to live with someone who does. Actual household rules are in flux, so we can negotiate them when you move in!
The pets:
There are currently two cats living in the apartment. One of us is actually allergic, but has no issues so long as the cats are kept out of her bedroom. The building does not allow dogs (or any more cats), but if you happened to have certain other kinds of pets (ie fish or something), we'd likely be able to work with that.
