update on the sick
Sep. 15th, 2004 01:05 pmSo yesterday I slept through the entire day except being awake for two one hour periods. At 5 I woke up, lazed around, and then ventured forth to get dinner and chocolate. I felt weak, but the other symptoms felt somewhat lessened.
I returned around 8 (about two hours later) and watched a bunch of DVDs, then read in bed, then went to sleep around 1:30 with a dose of nyquil (I did not medicate at all previous to this). I just woke up shortly after 12.
The sore throat is almost entirely gone. The lymph node is still somewhat swollen but nothing like it was yeseterday.
So for those of you panicking, and worried about catching this... yeah, I have a strong immune system, but apparently large amounts of sleep are pretty effective against this particular critter. It may be the strep throat of which some have spoken, or may not, but whatevah. I'm going to keep on pampering my immune system and resting and eating well. I'll continue to report for those worried about catching this one.
I also won't be going to Sunset and Port. Normally I'm not in favor of treating mildly ill people like lepers (and I'd categorize myself as mildly ill at this point), since the infectious phase of most colds and flus occurs before symptoms start to show. But since this might be strep throat, and I could potentially reinfect myself from a slightly different strain, and its POSSIBLE I'm still infectious (though I sincerely doubt it), and since I ought to rest anyway, I'll be staying home tonight. :(
