So I got a call from my editor while I was getting off the bus at Market.

Walked the ten minute walk home, sit down, pull out my phone to make a call... and its dead. Doesn't respond when I plug it into the charger. Doesn't turn on. Palm aspect doesn't work either.

That's just fucking-a-fabulous.

Well, I have 20 days until I can get a new discounted phone from Verizon if I sign up for a 2 year contract, and about 50 days until my Verizon contract expires. I guess I can go that long without a palm. And I still have the backup LG phone.

What is it with me and electronics lately? I didn't even DO anything to it this time!

p.s. The only thing I can think of is that some dry salt may have gotten onto it from the salt watering, but I know I haven't gotten it wet. Maybe the soaking it got a while back finally killed it? But then why would it have started working and worked fine for two monthsish, and then stop working suddenly?

Phone

Silly girl, I finally thought to press reset, and it has turned on just fine. Alls well that ends well. And in 1.5-2.5 months I'll be getting myself a new nifty phone! yay!

Friendster and Tribe

What I've done is created two accounts on each network.

The one that is for professional use uses my MIT address and my real name.

The one that is for personal use uses my freaknation address and a nickname for my first name.

Now I just have to decide what I want to go by. Mira works, but maybe I might like Lara better... I've always liked it as a name. And I wouldn't mind going by Lara in general among social circles. Hmm...

p.s.

all bureaucrats must die!

ahem. Emailed verizon to ask what time frame we're looking at for the treo 600, pointing out that I'll be leaving them in a little over two months if they don't have a palm based pda phone by then. They sent me back Read more... )

As someone on a website pointed out, if their testing process is so rigorous, how come the missed the faulty batteries on the kyocera 7135?

And also, at this point, if they don't shorten their testing process so that they are not always the last to come out with new technology, I expect they will start losing customers soon.

And finallly, even when they were offering the Kyocera 7135, it had become pretty outdated, yet they were still charging as much as for newer similar phones with different OSs.

Squee!

The last part of my bedclothes arrived today. I'm all sweaty from assembling it, but it was well worth the labor. It's sooo preeetty!

Of course, now I have a new comforter and a chenille throw in time for summer, but shhh, don't drive it home. ;) Besides, I got it for the pretty, and it sure is!

I'm also noticing more now the fact that I have no bed frame... the bedskirt covers the boxspring and then pools on the floor a little more than I'd like. But I doubt I'll buy a frame anytime soon.

Anyway, that's my squee-y bouncy for today. Back to work... Had to bail on plans AND the gym to get work done tonight. *sigh*

Well, I might still be able to make it to the gym, but I doubt it.
