There's a video called "Discover Arts at MIT" located at
http://web.mit.edu/arts/

It may have clips of me ballroom dancing at one of the activities midways from rush. I wouldn't know, because I downloaded it but apparently don't have any software that opens a .ram file. Anyone know what to use for a .ram file?

That is all. Other entry in the works.

I admit it.

Yesterday, ScionFey took me on a spending spree.

We went to Bed Bath and Beyond where I got:

  • a clear bubble mat for traction in the bath
  • a clear shower curtain liner (which may or may not help)
  • a nifty toothbrush holder which looks very space age
  • an amusing outer space style night light
  • a collapsible laundry hamper with handles which I can carry to the laundromat
  • and last but not least, my new toy: a standing water lamp. It has changing lights that glow upwards into bubbling water. Little plastic fishies and seahorses float in it, but we can put whatever we want in there. It was only $20. To that end...

Does anyone know where we could buy little plastic aliens, squid, moons, stars, etc. that would float in bubbling water?

Then I stopped off at Office Max and picked up a real office chair which was on sale for $80 (plus a $30 rebate). It is nice and cushy and needs to be assembled. I also grabbed some hanging files so I can finally put my filing cabinet to use; some cheap name tags for LWB (speaking of which, I will NOT be announcing events in my lj, so you MUST subscribe to the list to hear about it), and some star stickers so we can mark our video collection according to owner.

A few of these, alas, turned out to be disappointments.

The shower curtain is ALSO too short (like only an inch or two longer than the pirate curtain which was too short and let the water out). The hamper and bubblemat and toothbrush holder are great, although Quincy refuses to use the toothbrush holder (he doesn't want his toothbrush close to the rest of ours. Really). The nifty nightlight has nowhere to go... we need one in the hallway where there is no outlet to plug it into, and the bathroom outlet (1) does not work and (2) is upside down, so even if it did work, the nightlight would necessarily cover the light switch (not useful!). I plugged it into the kitchen because I figured its better than nothing.

Hopefully everything else will continue to work out. I'm going to go assemble my chair soon, and then the aqua lamp. w00t!

There's a nifty video they made of the Arts at MIT (in Real Audio format).

It can be found at http://web.mit.edu/arts/, and is about 8 minutes long.

I'm in the background around 2:38-2:58 ballroom dancing in a red dress.

I recognized a lot of faces and groups; squares, the symphony, the chorollaries, the jewish a capella group, RKB, etc. Go check it out if you think you might be on it! At least some of the video for it is from 2000/2001.

It's also just a nifty video for any incoming frosh to glance at, or even for folk who believe there are no arts at MIT or that engineers and scientists don't do arts (or are bad at them).

I now have a nifty comfy office chair in my room and a spiffy bubbly lamp thing in the living room.

Progress is thusly made.

Didn't get any work that could generate money done, though. Does that make me bad?

Tomorrow I have no work, so I'm going to spend the day working on the column I'm writing, searching for more work, and getting Stuff Done. Really!

I'm curious about Death Guild's new venue, but don't really feel that motivated or energetic.

Off to work in another 15 minutes... later folks...

I'm looking for people with a background in dance who are interested in performing burlesque-ish shows. To start, we could do a short choreographed dance number for Wicked City (a monthly event) in keeping with the theme of that month.

No total nudity (nipples and genitals must be covered), and we will be compensated with free guest passes. Not necessarily striptease, but probably at least sexy. I am looking for competent dancers; I don't want to be some silly people up on the stage looking retarded -- I want to be as professional as possible and eventually maybe perform at other venues.

E-mail me at questioner@livejournal.com if you're interested.
