A little worried and Progress
Feb. 24th, 2003 12:39 amI'm a little worried. Over the past few days, I've been noticing some tightness in my achilles tendon area on my left foot. No big deal, I thought. A tight achilles tendon can usually be rectified by some gentle massaging and stretching.
Well, I just finished my stretches, and this is NOT just a tight achilles tendon. I have tendonitis-like tenderness (very extreme) along the left side of my left achilles tendon. It goes down and around the heel bone.
I've never had this before. In fact, I'm not sure what could have aggravated it. I haven't done anything interesting recently that I would even remotely expect to result in a new injury! But it is swollen down there (minorly) and extremely tender and hurts during certain kinds of movements. I will have to research that area of the body since I have no health insurance and try to self-treat.
Progress
I think my dieting efforts might be paying off; pants felt a little looser.
I also think that months of stretching have had a small payoff as well. I'm defintely more flexible than I was; today when I was stretching straddle splits, I could put my face to my knee when stretching to the side. That's not the only place I'm noticing a difference. Still, its about time.
