comment emails from LJ

So, when you receive an email from LJ saying "so and so posted this comment in response to your lj entry" in a html happy email client, it has a form and a "post reply" button on the form.

But it never seems to work for me. Am I missing something? What am I doing wrong? is it that I'm using the OSX default mail client?

*sigh* Am I just having trouble with imprecise speech lately, or are people on this mailing list deliberately nitpicky about semantics?

Is that an intellectual debater thing? It's something I haven't done lately; I guess I've grown unused to it.
