So, when you receive an email from LJ saying "so and so posted this comment in response to your lj entry" in a html happy email client, it has a form and a "post reply" button on the form.

But it never seems to work for me. Am I missing something? What am I doing wrong? is it that I'm using the OSX default mail client?

It doesn't work for me either. I suspect it only works if your mailer uses an embedded web browser (i.e. the IE browser ActiveX object on Windows) to display HTML mail, as opposed to a limited and sandboxed HTML viewer.

(Count your blessings; this means you aren't vulnerable to a number of viruses that take advantage of flaws in the IE security model....)

I told LJ to send me non-html email, and now I get links instead, which I like.

LJ sends me non-HTML email, and clicking on the link in Apple Mail (OS 10.1.5) and in Pegasus Mail on WinXP both work. Mozilla is defined as the default browser in both OSen.
