lariel: From talking to the hiring-folks at my company, they are like 2000% biased in favor of people who are referred, even so far as "I have met this person 3 times at parties." That was totally how I got my job... But I guess you don't know people?
questioner: I might. Kathy, my editor, is going to hook me up with someone at PCWorld.
Look, if you know anyone at all who has a connection at any publication in the Bay Area (preferably, SF), please let me know. Pretty please.
If you know anyone who is looking for figure skating or learn to skate lessons in SF or near SF, please refer them to me. I have to figure out how to get permission to coach at a rink, etc., but once I've done that, I can give lessons no problem.

Oct. 23rd, 2002 03:58 pmQuestioner: *nods* it's a shame, because I don't believe I'm being immodest when I say that I'm GOOD. I am a very good stripper. I am a very good erotic dancer.
Questioner: But by the measures strip clubs use, I'm not what they want.
DivineSeduction: *nods* True. Unfortunately.
Questioner: Maybe that's my mission in life. Start a strip club that doesn't suck.
DivineSeduction: That... actually could be very cool.
Questioner: yes. A once a week event. The strip club for freaks and geeks and such.
Divine Seduction: more like a fetish strip club...
I'm actually serious about this. Geek culture here is huge, and geeks appreciate quality, intelligence, and a wide variety of types of beauty. I think there might actually be a market for something like this. Such a strip club would accept dancers who were 'overweight' if they were good. Bios for the dancers might be available at the tables to show that they are intelligent. Sort of like... the high priced call girls of stripping.
And so, a poll.
